Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner to Return for Lanterns Following Superman Debut
Nathan Fillion will reprise his DCU role as Guy Gardner in Lanterns.
Fillion is set to star as Guy Gardner in James Gunn’s Superman, which releases in United States theaters this coming July. Also starring in the movie are David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and more.
Now, per Deadline, it has been announced that Fillion is also part of the Lanterns cast.
What else do we know about the Lanterns show?
The previously announced cast for Lanterns includes Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Kelly Macdonald as Kerry, Garret Dillahunt as William Maccon, Pooma Jagannathan as Zoe, Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, Nicole Ari Parker as Bernadette, Sherman Augustus as John Sr., and Jason Ritter as Billy Maccon.
The logline for the show reads, “The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
Chris Mundy serves as the showrunner for Lanterns. Mundy is also a co-writer on the show alongside Damon Lindelof and Tom King. King, Lindelof, and Mudy all serve as executive producers.
“We’re thrilled to bring this seminal DC title to HBO with Chris, Damon, and Tom at the helm,” DC Studios co-CEOs Gunn and Peter Safran said in a statement when the show was officially greenlit by HBO. “John Stewart and Hal Jordan are two of DC’s most compelling characters, and Lanterns brings them to life in an original detective story that is a foundational part of the unified DCU we’re launching next summer with ‘Superman.’”
An official premiere date for Lanterns has not yet been announced, though it is expected to arrive at some point in 2026. Gunn’s Superman movie, meanwhile, hits United States theaters and IMAX on July 11, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
