Kendrick Lamar & South Park Creators Movie Delayed, New Release Date Set
The Kendrick Lamar movie he has in the works with South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker has been delayed, with a new release date set for the currently untitled comedy.
When is the new release date for Kendrick Lamar’s movie?
The movie, which was formerly set to release on July 4, 2025, is now set to debut on March, 2026, with the movie’s release date shifting back eight months.
The exact reason for a delay hasn’t been given, although Lamar is set to embark on his upcoming Grand National stadium tour, which begins on April 19, 2025. The tour will see Lamar traveling for most of the summer, with the tour set to conclude on August 19, 2025, in Sweden.
As of now, nothing much is known about the movie. Early reports from three years ago note that the movie will “depict the past and present coming to a head when a young Black man who is interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.”
Lamar’s production company, pgLang, will produce a new film for Paramount Pictures with Stone and Parker’s Park County. The live-action comedy was originally reported to be written by Vernon Chatman, although it’s unknown if anything has changed in that regard.
