VeryDarkman Slams Eniola Badmus And Celebrity Political Endorsements
Nigerian social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has taken a swipe at Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus and her critics while addressing the upcoming presidential election.
VDM criticized celebrities who publicly endorse politicians, alleging that their support is often driven by personal gain rather than genuine conviction. He urged Nigerians to be more discerning and not allow public figures to influence their political decisions.
The controversy surrounding Eniola Badmus reignited after she reaffirmed her support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Previously, she faced backlash for backing Tinubu during the elections, with many accusing her of prioritizing personal interests, especially after her appointment as a special adviser to the Speaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Tajudeen Abass.
Amid a wave of social media activism, where Nigerians have launched a 30-day online protest demanding change, Badmus remained steadfast in her stance. She took to Instagram to express her continued support for the Tinubu administration, despite growing public dissatisfaction.
Reacting to her post, Verydarkman emphasized that celebrities should not be seen as role models when it comes to political choices. He argued that many of them campaign for politicians not out of genuine belief but for financial benefits or increased public recognition.
His remarks have sparked further debate about the role of celebrities in politics and the responsibility of citizens in making independent, well-informed electoral decisions.
In his words:
“Eniola badmus other celebrities and the fulzsh Nigerians enabling them, until you know who you are you will continue being sheeps to the wrong shepherd.”
