The box office predictions for Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd’s comedy horror Death of a Unicorn are not looking good. The movie, written and directed by Alex Scharfman, had its world premiere at the South by Southwest Festival on March 8 and is set to hit theaters in the United States on March 28.

Along with Wednesday and Scream franchise’s star Ortega and Ant-Man’s Rudd, the horror comedy boasts a stacked cast of Richard E. Grant (The Lesson), Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Téa Leoni (Madam Secretary), and Anthony Carrigan (The Forgotten). However, the big names might not be able to save Death of a Unicorn from inevitable box office ruins.

What are the Death of a Unicorn box office predictions?

Despite the controversies surrounding the Rachel Zegler-led live-action Snow White, the movie is still set to push Death of a Unicorn down the wishing well with a box office projection of only $5 million to $7 million, according to Deadline’s recent report. Death of a Unicorn has not been performing critically well either, with only a 58% Rotten Tomatoes critics score based on 81 reviews.

Rudd and Ortega play father-and-daughter Elliot and Ridley in the movie about a dead unicorn being exploited by a billionaire. The unicorn’s parents, however, are set to avenge their dead foal.

“A father (Rudd) and daughter (Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties,” the official synopsis reads.

The horror comedy is executive produced by Orterga, Rudd, Ari Aster, David Darby, Jacob Epstein, Nate Kamiya, and more. It also stars Jessica Hynes (Miss Austen), Sunita Mani (Evil Eye), and Steve Park (The Good Half), with Law & Order: Criminal Intent’s Kathryn Erbe in a voice role.
