Yellowstone Kayce Dutton Spin-off Show With Luke Grimes Eyed at CBS
Yellowstone might have ended in December, but the characters in Taylor Sheridan’s flagship show will branch off into several spin-offs. Per Puck, CBS is eyeing a Yellowstone spin-off with Luke Grimes reprising his role as Kayce Dutton.
Who is involved in the Yellowstone spin-off with Luke Grimes at CBS?
The Kayce spin-off would be a procedural and, according to Deadline, would focus on Kayce’s role as a livestock commissioner and former Navy SEAL.
Spencer Hudnut is rumored to be involved with the new show and may serve as showrunner. Hudnut is best known for working as an executive producer and eventual showrunner of SEAL Team, a military procedural that aired on CBS and Paramount+ during its seven-season run.
Grimes was one of the original characters on Yellowstone and appeared in all five seasons on Paramount Network. In the Yellowstone series finale, Kayce sold the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch to Thomas Rainwater and the Broken Rock Indian Reservation. Kayce sold the ranch for $1.25 per acre, the same price his ancestors paid when they settled in Montana. As part of the deal, Kayce could live on a small part of the land with his wife, Monica (Kelsey Asbille), and son, Tate (Brecken Merrill).
Kayce’s spin-off is another series set to expand Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe. A Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler series is in development, with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser attached to reprise their respective roles from Yellowstone. Another spin-off, The Madison, is expected to premiere sometime in 2025. Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, and Matthew Fox headline The Madison.
Sheridan also created two Yellowstone prequels, 1883 and 1923. The latter is currently airing its second season on Paramount+.
