Ayo Edebiri Kills Pirates of the Caribbean Rumor, Received Death Threats From Elon Musk Fans
Ayo Edebiri took to social media this week to recall some online hate that she received after Elon Musk reacted to a false rumor about the star appearing in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
What did Ayo Edebiri say about the Pirates of the Caribbean rumors?
In a recent post to her Instagram Stories, Edebiri shared a screenshot of Elon Musk reacting to a post in February 2024. The original post is about a rumor of Edebiri being eyed as a replacement for Johnny Depp in a sixth Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Musk saw the since-deleted poster and quoted it with a caption of “Disney sucks.”
In her story, Edebiri reflected on the time, noting that it was when she got “some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs” of her life. She also took the time to call out Musk, referring to him as a “sieg heil-ing fascist” and “an idiot,” before calling the Pirates 6 rumor not real.
“Just remembering when I got some of the most insane death threats and racial slurs of my life (idk if it’s the #1 moment, but for sure top 3) for a fake reboot of a movie I had never even heard of because of this man,” Edebiri wrote. “LMAO. So not only is he double Sieg Heil-ing fascist, he’s an idiot but anyway.”
When it comes to Pirates of the Caribbean 6, according to its latest report, The DisInsider notes that Johnny Depp, who has played the iconic Jack Sparrow in all five Pirates of the Caribbean films, is preparing to return to the series. The report goes on to mention that Disney is “quietly gearing up” to begin production on a sixth film at some point soon, but that Depp will be making a return to the franchise in it.
