ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive Ed Kemper trailer for Dread’s upcoming biographical thriller drama about the chilling true story of a real American psycho killer. The film will be led by Brandon Kirk (Scalper, Pig Killer) as the titular serial killer, who was previously played by Cameron Britton in Netflix’s Mindhunter series. For Britton’s performance, he received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
“Ed Kemper follows the horrifying true story of Ed Kemper, a cunning and sadistic serial killer shaped by childhood abuse, whose charming facade masked his grotesque obsession with murder, mutilation, and the ultimate act of revenge against the woman who scarred him most—his mother,” reads the official synopsis.

When is the Ed Kemper release date?
Ed Kemper is scheduled to arrive in select theaters on April 4, 2025. It will then be followed by its VOD release on April 8, 2025. The film will also star Lew Temple (The Walking Dead), Cassandra Gava (Conan the Barbarian), Robert Miano (Fast & Furious), Brinke Stevens (House on Haunted Hill), Susan Priver (Night Caller), and more.
The film is directed by Chad Ferrin, who co-wrote the screenplay with Stephen Johnston. It is produced by Michael Conroy, Ferrin, Johnston, Silawn Lewis, Michael Muscal, and Jeff Olan, with Jeffrey Decker, Jerry Irons, and Susan Priver serving as executive producers. The creative team also includes cinematographer Jeff Billings and editor Jahad Ferif, with composer Richard Band providing the music.
