Church member nabbed for allegedly kidnapping his 2 reverend fathers

An Adamawa State resident, Tahamado Jonathan Demian, 34 years old, has been nabbed for allegedly kidnapping two reverend fathers of the church he attends.

Demian was picked up by operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command for kidnapping the two reverend fathers: Abraham Samman and Matthew David Dusami of Catholic Dioceses Yola and Jalingo, respectively.

The Command, in a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, said the search process leading to the uncovering of the suspect started last month.

Nguroje stated, “The command carried out coordinated rescue operations in and around a particular criminal hideout situated at a remote side of Gwaida Malam village connecting part of Numan and Demsa LGAs.”

He said in the statement obtained by DAILY POST Sunday morning that the operations, commenced from 21st February, 2025, yielded positive results as police operatives finally laid their hands on the suspect.

“The suspect was apprehended and now taking into custody for discreet investigation,” Nguroje added.

He disclosed that investigation so far had led to the recovery of one locally fabricated assault rifle and a handset and sim cards.

He said the command had also successfully rescued the two reverend fathers unhurt and no money was paid as ransom but that they had to be taken to hospital for medical attention.
