Kano police arrest three suspected car thieves, recover stolen vehicles

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspected car thieves and recovered two stolen vehicles following intensified security patrols in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Thursday.

According to the statement, the suspects; Sani Sirajo (20) from Kaduna State, Rabiu Aliyu (35) from Sharada Quarters, Kano, and Isah Yakubu (22) from Katsina State were apprehended on March 2, 2025, during a routine patrol by operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) along the Yankaba-Hadejia Road, Kano-Ringim Expressway.

The statement added that the arrest was made based on credible intelligence.

“The team intercepted and arrested the three suspects, and during the operation, two stolen vehicles were recovered,” the statement read.

“The recovered vehicles include; A Honda Jazz (Ash in color) with registration number SUL 173 and a Pontiac Vibe (White in color) with registration number SUL 516 SM.”

The police disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed the vehicles were stolen from Keffi, Nasarawa State, and that the suspects had confessed to the crime.

SP Kiyawa reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling crime in the state.

“This operation demonstrates our dedication to protecting lives and property in Kano. The suspects are currently undergoing further investigation, and the recovered vehicles will be returned to their rightful owners,” the statement added.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
