Police nab two armed robbery suspects in Abuja, intensify manhunt for accomplices

The Nigerian Police Force has arrested two suspected armed robbers following a raid on a residence in Wuse Zone 7, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the arrest took place on March 5 at about 4:15 a.m.

According to the sources, a gang of five armed robbers, driving a black Golf 3 vehicle, stormed House No. 24 Lome Crescent, Wuse Zone 7, where they stole electronic appliances and two mobile phones from the residents.

“Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Wuse Division swiftly deployed a combined team of operatives, led by Superintendent Luka Ayuba, to the scene,” a source revealed.

Two suspects, Abubakar Kamai of Kaduna Road and Usman Haruna, 25, of Dei-Dei, were apprehended while attempting to flee.

Before police intervention, an angry mob nearly lynched the suspects. One of them, who sustained serious injuries from the mob attack, was taken to Wuse General Hospital for treatment.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the robbery. Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the remaining three gang members who are still at large.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
