Jaws 50th Anniversary Rerelease Date & Peacock Streaming Debut Set
Universal Pictures has announced the theatrical rerelease and Peacock streaming debut dates for the celebration of the Jaws 50th Anniversary.
The film was directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay written by Peter Benchley and Carl Gottlieb based on Benchley’s 1974 novel of the same name. The cast included Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gray, and Murray Hamilton. Since making its debut in 1975, the film has received a near-perfect Tomatometer rating of 97%, based on 148 reviews.
“When the seaside community of Amity finds itself under attack by a dangerous great white shark, the town’s chief of police, a young marine biologist and a grizzled shark hunter embark on a desperate quest to destroy the beast before it strikes again,” reads the official synopsis. “Featuring an unforgettable score that evokes pure terror, five decades later, Universal Pictures’ Jaws remains one of the most influential and gripping adventures in motion picture history.”
