New Live-Action A Minecraft Movie Trailer Features Jack Black, Creepers, & More

A new trailer for A Minecraft Movie has been released.

A Minecraft Movie officially hits United States theaters in April 2025. Directed by Jared Hess, the movie stars Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and more.

What happens in the A Minecraft Movie trailer?

The new A Minecraft Movie trailer sees Momoa, Myers, Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen’s characters transported to the Overworld, where they then meet Black’s Steve. Together, they have to work together to find a way home, all while battling creepers, skeletons, and more.

Jennifer Coolidge also stars in the movie in an undisclosed role. Based on the best-selling Mojang Studios video game, the film is produced by Momoa, Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Jill Messick, Torfi Frans Olafsson, and Vu Bui. Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, Jonathan Spaihts, Pete Chiappetta, Andrew Lary, and Anthony Tittanegro serve as executive producers.

“Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits—Garrett ‘The Garbage Man’ Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers), and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination,” the synopsis for the film reads. “To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.”

A Minecraft Movie will be released in United States theaters and IMAX on April 4, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
