Gunmen kill 2 farmers in Edo

Two farmers, identified as Philip Batemue and Christopher Bello, were reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen on Monday, 24 February 2025, in Okpekpe community, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

DAILY POST gathered that the victims were killed on their farms.

Confirming the incident, the Edo State Police Command stated that security personnel from the Uzanu station, deployed to the scene, discovered the lifeless bodies of the slain farmers.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, issued a brief statement, saying, “Security arrangements in the area have been reviewed, and officers have been ordered to go after the criminals and prevent a recurrence.”

Yamu added that the command received a report on the killings from the traditional ruler of the community, who informed them that two of his subjects had been attacked and killed on their farms by suspected herdsmen.
