FA Cup: Forest boss salutes Awoniyi after win over Exeter
Nottingham Forest manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, has praised Taiwo Awoniyi for his impressive performance in the Emirates FA Cup win over Exeter City.
Awoniyi scored the Tricky Trees’ second goal in the fourth-round tie.
It was the Nigeria international’s second goal across all competitions for the Reds this season.
The keenly contested encounter ended 2-2 after extra time, with Forest prevailing 4-2 on penalties.
Awoniyi was replaced by Chris Wood late in the second half after sustaining a broken nose following a nasty collision with Exeter goalkeeper, Joe Whitworth.
Santo heaped plaudits on Awoniyi and also provided an injury update on the striker.
“I think he broke his nose, but he’s walking around smiling. He did an amazing job, he did really well today,” Santo told talkSPORT.
