Championship: Iheanacho eager to play for Middlesbrough – Carrick

Middlesbrough manager, Michael Carrick, has said Kelechi Iheanacho is desperate to make his first appearance for the club.

The Sky Bet Championship club signed Iheanacho on loan from Spanish outfit, Sevilla on transfer deadline day.

Iheanacho played in the Championship with Leicester City last season.

The forward failed to hit top form at Sevilla despite his huge pedigree.

He scored three times in 11 appearances across all competitions for the Rojiblancos.

Iheanacho has looked sharp in training this week, and Carrick revealed the Nigerian’s desperation to step on the pitch.

“Kels has experience and pedigree— he’s been well-known for a long time. He played against us last season at the Riverside, and while we managed to come out on top that day, he showed his quality,” Carrick was quoted by the club’s official website.

“He’s desperate to play, and he has a fantastic personality. Since arriving, he’s been great in training and has settled in well with the squad. We have a strong attacking lineup, and while not everyone can play at the same time, we can use that depth to our advantage.”

Middlesbrough will face Sheffield United at the Bramall Lane on Wednesday (today).
