Lil Smart withdraws defamatory claims against Naira Marley
Lil Smart has officially withdrawn his previous accusations against his former employer, Naira Marley.
After being detained by the Nigerian police on charges related to defamation and cyberstalking, Lil Smart clarified that Naira Marley had no involvement in his purported kidnapping or assault.
In a video statement, Lil Smart acknowledged that he had erroneously implicated Naira Marley in the theft of $300, confirming that the head of Marlian Music was not at the location of the incident.
He explained that his error stemmed from the presence of Naira Marley’s associates at the scene.
Expressing regret for his actions, Lil Smart extended an apology for disseminating unverified information on social media.
He urged his followers to report incidents to the appropriate authorities rather than making unfounded allegations online.
He said: “He was my ex-boss, his boys were at the scene so that was why I thought it might have come from him.”
“I feel very bad and now I’ve seen my mistake and I can correct myself and fellow Nigerians that you don’t come out to post what you don’t have proof of or what you’re not sure of and you should just go to the nearest police station and report instead of coming online.”
