Allegations of stealing newborn against young girl false – Delta Police
The Delta State Police Command has clarified that reports alleging that a girl attempted to steal a newborn from a private hospital along Okere-Ugborikoko road in Warri is false.
The command refuted the claims circulating on social media in a text sent Waploaded correspondent in Warri by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
Part of the text message read,”False, she didn’t steal any baby, she only appeared claiming she has a baby there.”
A video had emerged online from the hospital in the early hours of the day, where a girl was being escorted out of the premises of the hospital by a female Police Officer.
It was alleged that she attempted stealing a newborn baby from the hospital, from a woman who reportedly delivered triplets, before the father of the children caught the suspect and raised alarm.
Following the false allegations, the young girl was beaten by a crowd before being handed over to the Police.
At the time of this report, no one had been arrested over the false allegations levelled against the young girl.
