Elon Musk, the CEO of X and a figure often surrounded by controversy, has chosen to unfollow rapper Kanye West on the platform after a series of antisemitic remarks made by the artist.
This decision follows widespread calls from various users of X, including notable celebrities such as David Schwimmer, urging for the rapper’s removal from the platform. Kanye West himself addressed the situation, seemingly foreseeing his potential ban: “Elon unfollowed me so I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be on twitter / X, If I’m taken off go to…”
His message concluded with a reference to his fashion brand’s website, Yeezy.com. Since assuming control of Twitter, Elon Musk appears to have distanced himself from Kanye, particularly as the artist has continued to post content filled with offensive Nazi-related rhetoric and attacks on Jewish individuals. Some of these controversial posts included criticisms directed at Elon Musk himself, alongside comments defending Diddy and trivializing domestic violence.
Kanye, a father of four, has made numerous antisemitic statements that mock the Jewish community, including remarks about his Jewish friends, claiming he has “never trusted them.” Among his tweets was a particularly inflammatory one stating: “never trusted them”. In his series of tweets, one read: “I LOVE HITLER. NOW WHAT B***ES.” He quickly followed it up with: “LETS SEE IF YALL GIVE THAT MONEY BACK,” before adding: “IM A NAZI.”
