LaLiga: 10-man Barcelona thrash Sevilla, close gap to Real Madrid, Atletico
Barcelona on Sunday thrashed Sevilla 4-1 in La Liga, despite playing most of the second half with 10 men.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the seventh minute of the game.
But just a minute later, Ruben Vargas equalized for the home side from a quick counter.
Fermin López came off the bench to restore Barca’s lead two minutes after the break, and Raphinha extended their lead with a brilliant strike from outside the box.
Five minutes later, Barca were reduced to 10 men after López was shown a straight red card for a studs-up challenge on Djibril Sow.
But it was Hansi Flick’s men who got the next goal in the 89th minute, thanks to Eric Garcia’s header.
The win lifted third-placed Barcelona to 48 points, one behind Atletico Madrid in second and two adrift of leaders Real Madrid after the capital rivals drew 1-1 on Saturday.
