Man leads kidnapping of nephew, gets N200,000
A 50-year-old man, Ado Haruna, has been arrested for collaborating with bandits to kidnap his nephew, Alhaji Bashiru Anas, along with his family in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Despite a hefty ransom payment of ₦13 million, four new motorcycles, and Airtel recharge cards worth ₦300,000, Haruna received only ₦200,000 as his share of the ransom.
Haruna was apprehended by intelligence operatives and paraded alongside other suspects involved in serious crimes by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in Abuja.
A resident of Unguwar Kanawa, Dutse Abba, Haruna reportedly led three bandits—Shago Yaro, Tanimu Ayuba, and Lamido Dantajiri—to the home of his nephew, Alhaji Anas, around 1:00 a.m. Upon finding Anas absent, they abducted his two wives, three children, his younger brother, and his brother’s wife.
The victims were held captive for 60 days in the forests between Buruku and Sabo Birni.
Confessing to his role in the crime, Haruna said, “I am a farmer and a vigilante. It’s true that I led the bandits to Alhaji Anas’ house. Anas is my son—my nephew. I know one of the bandits who asked me to show them Alhaji Anas’ house.”
