Mob justice: Kano community kills ‘yan 6’ gang member after robbery spree

Residents of Sheka, Kumbotso local government in Kano State, took matters into their own hands when they captured a notorious gang member, Yusuf Aminu, who was affiliated with the ‘Yan 6’ group.

Aminu was apprehended by locals following a series of robberies and disturbances in the area.

According to the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the frustrated community members severely beat Aminu, resulting in a fractured leg and serious injuries to the other.

Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.

In response, Aminu’s associates attempted to retaliate, sparking further clashes in Sheka on February 2, 2025.

The Kano State Police Command swiftly intervened, arresting several individuals involved in the unrest.

SP Kiyawa confirmed the arrests and assured the public that efforts were ongoing to restore peace in the area.k
