Police raid black spots in Minna, arrest 19 suspects
In a crackdown on crime and criminality, the Niger State Police Command has arrested 19 suspects in a sting operation in Minna, the state capital.
The Command stated that the move was part of efforts in tackling the menace of thuggery, snatching of handsets and abuse of illicit drugs within Minna and its environs.
The operation, led by Area Commander Minna, ACP Aliyu A. Rabah, targeted notorious black spots in the metropolis, including New-market/PZ, Sauka-Kahuta, Soje, and Kpakungu areas.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who disclosed this in Minnaz said the suspects were arrested on February 2nd, 2025, at around 10:00 am.
“The operation is part of the command’s efforts to tackle thuggery, handset snatching, and illicit drug abuse in Minna and its environs,” Abiodun noted.
The suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons and other exhibit, including one axe, two cutlasses, four knives, one iron rod, assorted charms and cannabis.
All suspects are under investigation in SCID Minna and they will be arraigned for prosecution as soon as possible.
