Transfer: Mathys Tel turns down Tottenham as Chelsea confirm Liefting deal
Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel has rejected a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Sky Sports reports that Tottenham and Bayern Munich had reached a verbal agreement on a £50 million deal.
However, Tel has reportedly turned down a move to the Premier League side.
The 19-year-old is more open to a loan deal, and there is interest in him from Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Manchester United.
Meanwhile, in another development, Chelsea have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Femke Liefting.
The young goalkeeper signed a three-and-a-half-year deal from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
The 20-year-old played youth football with FC Uitgeest before making her professional debut in 2021 with VV Alkmaar. Considered a rising star in women’s football, she won the Golden Glove award at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Upon joining Chelsea, Liefting said: “It is really amazing. I am so proud. It is just such a big club. I’m really honoured to be here.”
