EPL: ‘He’s a better finisher than Havertz’ – Gray advises Arsenal to sign Watkins

Former Aston Villa player, Andy Gray, has advised Arsenal to make a stunning £100million bid to ‘tempt’ Aston Villa to sell their star striker Ollie Watkins.

According to Gray, Watkins is a better finisher than the Germany international.

Aston Villa had rejected Arsenal’s opening £60mllion bid for Watkins.

Mikel Arteta’s side are desperate to sign a new striker before the January transfer window closes in a couple of days.

“I would be amazed if Aston Villa decided, for any money, to part ways with Ollie Watkins. I would be amazed,” Gray said on beIN SPORTS.

“Arsenal are his boyhood club so it is always your dream to play for them, especially when they’re as good as they are.

“I actually think he would be a good fit for Arsenal, I really do. But I wouldn’t like to see him leave Aston Villa right now, especially with the uncertainty around Duran.

“He is a better finisher than Kai Havertz, he would score a lot more goals because he knows how to play in that position better than Havertz. In that team, Arsenal create so much so he would get goals.

“Arsenal are panicking with a few days to go, throw £100million on the table and see if that tempts them.”

Watkins helped Aston Villa to beat Celtic 4-2 in the Champions League on Wednesday.
