Nigerian stand-up comedian AY Makun has come to the defense of 2Face, who has faced criticism following his announcement of a divorce from his wife, Annie Idibia.

The news of 2Face’s impending divorce has caused a stir on social media, prompting various reactions regarding the couple’s marital difficulties.

In response to the ongoing discourse surrounding 2Face’s situation, AY Makun has expressed his support for his fellow entertainer while addressing the critics.

He emphasized that rather than directing blame at the couple navigating their marital challenges, people should focus on the broader issues threatening the institution of marriage. AY Makun remarked that no one enters into marriage with the intention of failure. He expressed concern over the role of “online in-laws” and sensationalist media that exploit the personal struggles of those involved.

Furthermore, he cautioned that many critics risk pushing fellow humans towards severe emotional distress, including suicidal thoughts, through their harsh comments and insults.

He wrote, “Instead of casting blame in broken marriages that you know nothing about, why not focus on the reasons why the institution itself is under attack? No one goes in with a plan to fail. It’s troubling to see online in-laws and blogs revel in sensationalism, often at the expense of those hurting. Real lives are involved—let’s choose empathy over drama and content. Some of you will never rest until you lead a fellow human to suicide”.
