Transfer: Amorim opens up on why Man United midfielder should leave Old Trafford
Manchester United boss, Ruben Amorim, has opened up on why he expects Casemiro to leave Old Trafford this January.
Amorim blamed the player’s link to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr for his lack of game time under his watch.
According to him, the Brazilian now lacks the intensity needed for his style of football.
It was reported that the Brazilian has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford under Amorim, starting just two Premier League games before being relegated to the bench.
The Brazil international made his return to action against Wolves and subsequently started against Newcastle United at the end of December.
However, the former Real Madrid midfielder has remained an unused substitute since.
His future at the club has been uncertain and he has been linked with Pro League side Al-Nassr.
There are suggestions that Ronaldo has personally requested the club bring in his former Real Madrid and Manchester United teammate.
Amorim said in an interview with TNT Sports, “We understand that Casemiro has other things nowadays. The intelligence he has, understanding the game, understanding where the ball is going to fall but we’re in a league that I can see, even in European competitions, the difference in intensity is big.
“And so, I feel that this team also needs players with a very high intensity. And sometimes we don’t have that and sometimes that difference in characteristics can lead one player or another to play.”
