Road accident leaves 5 injured in Lagos

No fewer than five people sustained various degrees of injuries in an accident that occurred on the 3rd Mainland Bridge at the Unliga Waterfront inward Adeniji area of Lagos.

This was contained in a statement posted on X by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the accident, which involved a commercial bus and a Toyota Highlander, occurred earlier on Tuesday, causing a brief disruption in traffic flow.

The agency explained that its officials, alongside good Samaritans, swiftly rescued the injured victims and ensured they received prompt medical attention.

“An accident occurred on the Third mainland bridge at Unilag Waterfront inward Adeniji, and it involved a commercial bus and a Toyota Highlander.

“There are 5 casualties (Injured persons) involved and have been swiftly rescued by LASTMA officials and other good Samaritans,” the post read.

It added that efforts are currently underway to recover the affected vehicles and restore normal traffic on the busy bridge.

LASTMA, however, urged motorists to always drive cautiously, adhere to speed limits, and conduct proper vehicle checks before setting out.

The agency stressed that road safety measures are essential to prevent avoidable accidents.

It advised drivers to cooperate with traffic officials and prioritise safety to protect lives and property.
