Ellen Pompeo’s Good American Family Sets Release Date, View First Photos

Hulu has unveiled the first look photos and the release date for its upcoming eight-episode limited series Good American Family. It features Ellen Pompeo in one of her first major roles since donning the scrubs as Meredith Grey in Grey’s Anatomy.

The forthcoming series is inspired by the true story of Natalia Grace, a girl with a rare form of dwarfism called spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia. She was abandoned by her Midwestern adoptive parents, who alleged she’s actually an adult pretending to be a child — a story akin to the 2009 horror mystery Orphan.

Apart from the upcoming Hulu series, her story had also been the subject of the documentary series The Curious Case Of Natalia Grace.

When is the release date for Ellen Pompeo’s Good American Family?

Good American Family will premiere its first two episodes on March 19, followed by one episode weekly on Hulu and Hulu On Disney+ in the United States. In addition to Pompeo, the series also stars Mark Duplass (Creep) and Imogen Reid (The Third Day: Autumn), with Dulé Hill (Psych), Christina Hendricks (Good Girls), and Sarayu Blue (Expats) also appearing as recurring guest stars.

Good American Family is created by Katie Robbins, with Pompeo also serving as one of the executive producers.

The official synopsis reads: “Told from multiple points of view, as a means to explore issues of perspective, bias, and trauma, this compelling drama is inspired by the disturbing stories surrounding a Midwestern couple who adopts a girl with a rare form of dwarfism. But as they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, mystery emerges around her age and background, and they slowly start to suspect she may not be who she says she is. As they defend their family from the daughter they’ve grown to believe is a threat, she fights her own battle to confront her past and what her future holds, in a showdown that ultimately plays out in the tabloids and the courtroom.”

The first two episodes of Good American Family will arrive on March 19.
