Transfer: Neymar Jr accepts pay cut to leave Al-Hilal for former team

Al-Hilal forward, Neymar Jr. has accepted to take a massive paycut to seal his return to Santos, according to Footmercato.

Neymar is set to seal an emotional return to his boyhood club in Brazil this January.

The move will bring to an end his miserable spell at the Saudi Pro League side.

Neymar signed for Al-Hilal in the summer of 2023. But he has seen injuries ruin his stint at the club, as he has only played seven games in a year and a half.

The 32-year-old has six months left on his current deal and it is still unclear how his move to Santos will be facilitated.

The two options are: terminating his contract with the Saudi Pro League champions or a loan move to Brazil.

But Neymar is ready to drop his wages significantly to facilitate his move to Santos this month, and his contract situation at Al-Hilal remains the only obstacle blocking his move.

Al-Hilal manager Jorge Jesus has given up on Neymar and has already revealed he will not be registered for the second half of the Saudi Pro League season.

As such, a return to Santos this January is likely to go through sooner rather than later.
