Taraba university striking staff near agreement to resume work, exams rescheduled

The Vice Chancellor of Taraba State University, Prof Sunday Bako, announced on Tuesday that the university’s striking staff have nearly reached a 100% agreement with the state government to resume work. He made the disclosure to journalists in his office in Jalingo.

Prof Bako explained that after successful discussions between the government and the non-academic staff over the weekend, he instructed the union leaders to formalize their report in a communiqué for his review before it is shared with their members.

He also revealed that the university has officially rescheduled the suspended exams, which will now resume on Monday, January 27, 2025.

“We have nearly reached an agreement with the non-academic staff, and we expect them to call off their strike soon. As a result, the university has rescheduled the postponed exams to continue next Monday,” Prof. Bako stated.
