Police rescue two kidnapped victims in Taraba

The Taraba State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims after raiding a kidnappers’ hideout in Isinyi Forest, Tapga Village, in Ibi Local Government Council of the state.

According to a statement issued to journalists by the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman, the operation was carried out in the early hours of January 21, 2025, by detectives from the Ibi Division, working in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters.

“The police received reports of suspicious movements by suspected kidnappers around 5 am. Upon arrival at the scene, the team engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle.

“The suspects were eventually overpowered and fled into the forest, abandoning two victims tied with ropes: Alhaji Tafiyanu and Abubakar Isa, both residents of Garin Bashar in Wase Local Government of Plateau State.

“One of the victims, Alhaji Tafiyanu, sustained a deep cut on his left hand inflicted by the kidnappers. He is currently receiving treatment at the First Referral Hospital in Ibi and is reported to be responding well,” the statement read.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were kidnapped from Wase, Plateau State. The command stated that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects as investigations continue.
