Residents panic as gunmen patrol Taraba community

Residents of Shavoh, a neighborhood in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, are presently gripped by fear following reports of suspected gunmen patrolling the area on Sunday night.

Eyewitnesses who spoke with our reporter, claimed that the unidentified individuals, armed with dangerous weapons, were also seen monitoring homes during the early hours of Monday.

The development has left residents of the community on edge as the armed figures were said to have been seen moving stealthily through the streets.

The presence of the suspicious individuals has sparked widespread concern, with residents expressing fears for their safety and the security of their neighborhood.

“We no longer feel safe even in our own homes,” one resident lamented, echoing the sentiments of many in the community.

In response, community leaders and residents have called on the state government and security agencies to take swift action.

They are urging authorities to deploy personnel to investigate the reports and implement measures to deter potential criminal activity.

Local leaders have also requested increased security patrols in the area to restore peace of mind.

“The situation demands immediate attention,” said a community elder. “We need the assurance that our lives and properties are secure.”

However, when contacted by DAILY POST, the spokesman of the Taraba State Police Command, Abdullahi Usman, said the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of the area has not reported the development.

He however promised to get back to our reporter as soon as the information is made available to the Command.
