In a new interview, showrunner Gwen Sigan spoke about when fans could expect Chapman to return.
Gwen Sigan reveals Chapman returns in Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 15
Gwen Sigan revealed during an interview with Screen Rant that Sara Bues’ Nina Chapman will reappear in Season 12 Episode 15 of Chicago PD. Notably, the 12th season premiered on NBC on September 25, 2024. The series went on a holiday hiatus after airing the eighth episode of the season on November 20, 2024. The series resumed airing on January 8, 2025.
Besides disclosing the episode of Chapman’s return, Sigan spoke on what was in store for the character. “Yes, she’s [Chapman] coming back in Episode 15, and then she’ll be with us for a lot of the back half of the season, and we sort of pick right back up where we left off with her and Voight and see how that time apart has kind of morphed them now they’ve had some time to think about things and just where that relationship will grow and how it keeps changing for the two of them,” Sigan explained.
Before she left for Denver, Chapman told Voight she had feelings for him. From what Sigan said in the interview, the series will likely explore more of this dynamic between the two characters in the coming episodes. Sigan mentioned that Chapman would have a significant role to play in bringing down Shawn Hatosy’s Chief Reid, a character that Sigan noted “has all of this dirt and also pretty much runs the CPD.”
