Olamide Makes History As The First African Rapper To Reach 1 Billion Streams On Spotify
Nigerian rapper Olamide, the head of YBNL, has celebrated a huge success by surpassing 1 billion streams on Spotify.
He is the first African rapper to reach this milestone, which he owes to his mix of Afrobeats in his tracks and his partnerships with other artists.
Last year, Olamide became the first African rapper to receive a Grammy nomination.
His song with Asake, ‘Amapiano,’ was nominated in the first-ever Best African Music Performance category but did not win; the award went to Tyla for ‘Water.’
