Friday Night Lights Star Taylor Kitsch Has Been Asked To Be Part of Peacock Reboot
Taylor Kitsch says he’s been asked to be part of the new Friday Night Lights Peacock reboot.
It was announced in 2024 that Universal Television was developing a reboot of Friday Night Lights, the acclaimed television series starring Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton that premiered in 2006 and ran for five seasons. Kitsch played Tim Riggins, a fullback who struggles with alcoholism, in the original series.
During an interview with SiriusXM’s The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw, via TV Line, Kitsch confirmed that he’d “been asked” about being part of the new Friday Night Lights reboot; although, he didn’t divulge many more other details as he then said, “We’ll leave it at that.”
What else did Taylor Kitsch say about the Friday Night Lights reboot?
He did say, however, that he was potentially interested in returning to the world of Friday Night Lights for a short amount of time.
“I would come in and do something, maybe for an episode or something. But I don’t want to go and do the whole thing,” he said.
Kitsch also noted that he’d be open to playing someone other than Riggins in the new series, such as “an opposing team’s coach or something.”
The description of the new Friday Night Lights series reads, “Following a devastating hurricane, a rag tag high school football team and their damaged, interim coach make an unlikely bid for a Texas High School State Championship becoming a beacon of light for their town.”
Jason Katims, who served as the showrunner for the original Friday Night Lights, is returning for the reboot. Peter Berg and Brian Grazer are also returning, while Kristen Zolner will serve as an executive producer for Imagine Entertainment.
No casting information has been announced for the new series at this time.
A premiere date for the new Friday Night Lights series has not yet been announced by Peacock.
