Transfer: Arsenal to trigger Nico Williams’ €58m release clause in January

Arsenal are in talks with Nico Williams’ agent and are ready to match the release clause to sign the player from Athletic Club this month.

Williams has been a long-term target for the Gunners.

They tried to sign the 22-year-old in the summer after his heroics helped Spain to Euro 2024 glory.

According to Goal, manager Mikel Arteta is keen to add more quality to his attack, with Bukayo Saka set to miss over two months after undergoing surgery on his hamstring.

Conversations with Williams’ agent will determine if a transfer is possible this month.

But Arsenal are ready to pay the €58million clause required to make the move happen immediately.

Saka’s injury leaves Arsenal with Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, Ethan Nwaneri and Raheem Sterling in the wide areas.
