Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us Co-Star Jenny Slate Issues Statement Amid Justin Baldoni Lawsuit
Several personalities close to Blake Lively have spoken out regarding the actress’ lawsuit against It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni. One of Baldoni and Lively’s co-stars in the film, Jenny Slate, has also issued a statement in support of Lively.
Lively recently filed a legal complaint against Baldoni, accusing the actor of sexual harassment and taking part in a smear campaign intended to damage her reputation publicly. The lawsuit claims that Baldoni created “a hostile environment” on set and that Lively experienced “grief, fear, trauma, and extreme anxiety” as a result of Baldoni’s alleged behavior.
What did Jenny Slate say?
In a statement obtained by TODAY.com, Slate — who plays Baldoni’s sister and Lively’s best friend and sister-in-law Allysa in It Ends With Us — voiced her support for Lively, expressing her admiration for the actress’ “bravery” regarding the matter.
“As Blake Lively’s castmate and friend, I voice my support as she takes action against those reported to have planned and carried out an attack on her reputation. Blake is a leader, loyal friend and a trusted source of emotional support for me and so many who know and love her,” said Slate.
She added, “What has been revealed about the attack on Blake is terribly dark, disturbing, and wholly threatening. I commend my friend, I admire her bravery, and I stand by her side.”
Lively’s Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel, have also expressed their solidarity with the actress in a joint statement, saying that they saw Lively “summon the courage to ask for a safe workplace for herself and colleagues on set.”
It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover also showed her support for Lively. Meanwhile, Baldoni’s publicist denies Lively’s smear campaign claims.
Per the official synopsis, It Ends With Us “tells the compelling story of Lily Bloom, a woman who overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life in Boston and chase a lifelong dream of opening her own business. A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship.”
