The limited series centers on former U.S. President George Mullen (played by De Niro). Mullen heads the Zero Day Commission and is charged with figuring out who is responsible for a cyberattack that led to chaos and thousands of lives lost. This occurs as disinformation runs rampant alongside the personal ambitions of power brokers in technology, Wall Street, and government all colliding. Mullen has his own troubles, however, with his dark secrets threatening to come to light.

What happens in the Zero Day teaser trailer?
The trailer begins with De Niro’s character recapping the chaos of what happened on the so-called “zero day”, including more than 3000 people dead. De Niro’s character, Mullen, is in the Oval Office with the sitting U.S. President played by Bassett. The two are planning their next moves, which seems to be going well enough until Mullen is faced with the possibility that he may have to round people up in the streets. The Zero Day teaser, which runs for close to a minute, also highlights the supporting cast and ends with Bassett’s character declaring that some things are more important than the truth.
The six-episode series also stars Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, Connie Britton, Dan Stevens, and Matthew Modine. Bill Camp, Dan Stevens, Gaby Hoffmann, Clark Gregg, and McKinley Belcher III, meanwhile, appear in guest star roles.
Zero Day marks the first main cast member in a TV show that De Niro has had in his long career. It is co-created by Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim, and Michael S. Schmidt. The trio executive produces, with Newman and Oppenheim as the writers and co-showrunners. De Niro is also among the executive producers, as is Jonathan Glickman and director Lesli Linka Glatter.
