Christmas: Yobe Govt assures of adequate security
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has assured residents of the state that adequate security measures will be in place to ensure peaceful and hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The governor gave the assurance on Thursday in his opening remarks during a routine security council meeting held in Damaturu.
Buni, represented by Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana, stated that the security council meeting was aimed at reviewing and analysing the security situation in the state and coming up with new measures to enable Christians to enjoy the Yuletide.
After intensive deliberations behind closed doors, Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Garba, who briefed the press, said security agencies are committed to safeguarding the lives and property of residents before, during, and after the festivities.
He urged parents and guardians to monitor and guide their children to refrain from involving themselves in criminal activities during the celebrations, as law enforcement agencies will no longer tolerate behaviours capable of breaching law and order.
