Y2K Digital Release Date Set for Rachel Zegler Disaster Comedy Movie
A24 has announced the Y2K digital release date for its newest disaster comedy about a group of high schoolers fighting for their survival after their house party gets interrupted by the sudden uprising of technology. This comes after nearly two weeks since the Rachel Zegler-led movie made its theatrical debut.
“It’s New Year’s Eve 1999. Two high school nobodies decide to crash the last big party before the new millennium. When the clock strikes midnight, the night gets more insane than they ever could have imagined,” reads the synopsis.
When is the Y2K digital release date?
Y2K will be available to rent or own on digital platforms starting on December 24, 2024. Since making its theatrical debut, the film has received mixed reviews from critics. It currently has a 45% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 89 reviews.
In addition to Zegler, the ensemble cast also includes Jaeden Martell (It movies), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), Alicia Silverstone (Clueless), Lachlan Watson (Chucky), Mason Gooding (Scream VI), Tim Heidecker (Us), Eduardo Franco (Booksmart, Stranger Things), Miles Robbins (Blockers), Fred Hechinger (Fear Street, The White Lotus), Daniel Zolghadri (Funny Pages), and rapper The Kid Laroi.
The film was written and directed by Saturday Night Live alum Kyle Mooney and Evan Winter. It hailed from Jonah Hill, who has signed on to produce the project through his Strong Baby banner. This marked Hill’s latest collaboration with A24 after previously working together in his feature directorial debut Mid90s. It was also produced by Winter, Matt Dines, Ali Goodwin, and Chris Storer (The Bear).
