Police arrest seven suspected miscreants in Niger
The Niger State Police Command, as part of its efforts to curb crime in the state, raided a notorious black spot in the Fadikpe area of Minna, leading to the arrest of seven suspected miscreants.
According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the suspects, all from the Fadikpe and D/Gwari areas of Minna, were apprehended on December 17, 2024, at approximately 8:45 pm.
The suspects include Abdullahi Haruna, 25, Aminu Mohammed, 23, Mohammed Suleiman, 22, Habu Lawal, 23, Mohammed Umar, 25, Saidu Hassan, 22, and Abubakar Idris, 23.
The police spokesperson stated that, upon their arrest, the suspects were found in possession of a sharp knife, cannabis and various illicit drugs.
SP Abiodun further disclosed that in a separate arrest, two suspects, Umar Umar, 24, and Ibrahim Shehu, 20, were apprehended on December 11, 2024, at approximately 10 pm in Shanu village, Bosso.
He explained that the arrest was made possible by a tip-off, which led to a sting operation conducted by police operatives from the Bosso Division.
The suspects were found in possession of a sharp knife, a cutlass, cannabis, heroin, cigarettes, and various tablets.
All the suspects have been charged in court for prosecution.
