Jigawa State High Court presided over by Justice Mohammed Kaugama, has sentenced two kidnappers, Sani Mohammed and Babannan Saleh (alias Ustaz), to death by hanging.
They were convicted for abduction and culpable homicide, alongside additional prison terms for robbery and criminal conspiracy.
Justice Kaugama ruled that the prosecution proved its case beyond a reasonable doubt under the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law of Jigawa State, 2021.
Mohammed and Saleh were convicted for multiple high-profile crimes, including the abduction of Hamidan Abdu in Ringim Local Government Area and Mr. Eze Virginus Emmanuel in Kano State, where ransoms of N20 million and N14.65 million, respectively, were demanded.
In another case, Saleh was found guilty of abducting Abdullahi Jarma from Maigatari Town, Jigawa State.
After receiving a N2.5 million ransom, the kidnappers tragically killed Ahmed Nadabo during the exchange.
Saleh was also convicted of kidnapping Alhaji Kabiru Taura, demanding a N20 million ransom.
Justice Kaugama sentenced the convicts to death for abduction and homicide, with additional life imprisonment and three years for robbery and conspiracy, to run concurrently.
