No parallel PDP state secretariat in Benue – Sen Moro
Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro has said there is no parallel State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue State.
He disclosed this during a chat with journalists after the expanded caucus meeting of the PDP in Makurdi.
Moro said there is no other state EXCO of the party in the state other than the one led by Ezekiel Adaji .
He said the party has rules and regulations guiding the conduct of state congresses and the rules were adequately adhered to by the national secretariat of the party.
“The national secretariat sent electoral panels and electoral appeal panels in the state to conduct elections and adjudicate on grievances arising from it.
“And in line with our Constitution and guidelines, relevant government agencies like the Independent National Election Commission, INEC, and security agencies were empowered to supervise these elections.
“At the end of the process, these agencies turned in their reports which has been approved and accepted by the national secretariat of the party.
“And so if anybody goes outside the Constitution of the party to select people to act as EXCO or alternative EXCO of the party, it is an exercise in futility.
“If INEC certifies that the witnessed congresses that produced leadership, if security agencies accepted congresses were held and you go outside it to appoint certain persons into office then you are out for mischief,” Moro said.
He added that the old state secretariat of the party was put under lock and key by the owner of the property who did not accept the outcome of the congresses.
He said the new EXCO, who were denied access to the old party state secretariat, had no choice than to seek the approval of the national secretariat to relocate to a new facility provided for them by the leader of the party in the state.
Sen.Moro said the new state EXCO appreciated the offer and adopted the new facility as the state secretariat of the party in Benue State.
“It is funny that some persons who were unelected will now constitute themselves into an executive branch and go to open a secretariat the owner has locked and pretend to be doing any business for the party from.
