White Bird Digital Release Date Set for Helen Mirren WWII Movie
Lionsgate has announced the White Bird digital release date for its latest World War II drama, which serves as a spin-off to 2017’s Wonder movie. This comes after less than a month since the Helen Mirren-led film had made its theatrical debut.
“It follows Julian, who has struggled to belong ever since he was expelled from his former school for his treatment of Auggie Pullman,” reads the synopsis. “To transform his life, Julian’s grandmother finally reveals to Julian her own story of courage — during her youth in Nazi-occupied France, a boy shelters her from mortal danger. They find first love in a stunning, magical world of their own creation, while the boy’s mother risks everything to keep her safe. White Bird is an emotional story about the ways that even in the most harrowing circumstances, empathy for others can make every difference in the world.”
When is the White Bird digital release date?
White Bird will be available to rent or own on digital platforms, starting this Friday, November 1. The cast also includes Ariella Glaser as Sara, Orlando Schwerdt as Julian I, Gillian Anderson as Vivienne and Helen Mirren as Grandmère, with Bryce Gheisar reprising his role as Julian Albans from the 2017 movie, where he was introduced as a bully.
The film was directed by Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Christopher Robin) from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, based on R.J. Palacio’s 2019 graphic novel. It was produced by Palacio, Todd Lieberman, and David Hoberman, with Jeff Skoll, Robert Kessel, Kevin Downes, Jon Erwin, Andrew Erwin, Renée Wolfe, Alexander Young, Mark Bomback, Kevan Van Thompson, Christopher Woodrow, and Connor DiGregorio serving as executive producers.
