Lanterns: DCU Show Casts Kelly Macdonald in Series Regular Role
Kelly Macdonald has joined the cast of Lanterns.
Lanterns is a forthcoming DCU series that will star Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. The show is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindeloff, and Tom King.
Per Variety, Macdonald has now joined the cast of Lanterns.

Macdonald has been given a series regular role in Lanterns. She’ll play Sheriff Kerry, who is described as “a no-nonsense woman deeply devoted to her family and close-knit town. Her resilience, shaped by a complex past that’s hardened her resolve, anchors her when the community’s secrets begin to surface.”
Macdonald was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in 2007’s No Country for Old Men. She won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for her role in 2005’s The Girl in the Cafe, while she was also Emmy-nominated for playing Margaret Thompson in Boardwalk Empire.
She’s additionally known for voicing Princess Merida in Pixar’s Brave, while her filmography additionally includes 1996’s Trainspotting, 1998’s Elizabeth, 2001’s Gosford Park, 2004’s Finding Neverland, 2011’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2, 2012’s Anna Karenina, 2017’s T2 Trainspotting, and more.
Lanterns follows “new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland,” per the official synopsis.
The show is produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios. It will consist of eight episodes, the first two of which are being directed by James Hawes. Hawes, Mundy, Lindelof, and King all serve as executive producers.
A premiere date for Lanterns has not yet been announced.
