Jon Bernthal’s Punisher Makes MCU Appearance in Daredevil: Born Again Footage

Jon Bernthal’s Punisher returns in the first Daredevil: Born Again footage.

Bernthal’s Frank Castle/Punisher officially debuted in the second season of Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil series. He went on to star in his own solo spin-off series, The Punisher, which ran for two seasons.

It was previously announced that Bernthal will reprise his role once again in Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again, which premieres on Disney+ next March.

Marvel Entertainment has now released a video teasing some upcoming MCU projects coming to Disney+ in the coming year. Included in the video is footage of Daredevil: Born Again, which features a glimpse of Bernthal’s Punisher.

Was the Netflix Daredevil series set in the MCU?

The Netflix Daredevil series is technically set within the same continuity as the MCU; however, the show was intentionally given a darker tone and avoided any kind of crossovers with other major MCU properties. It did, however, tie into The Defenders, which saw characters from other Netflix shows — Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage — come together to defeat a common enemy.

Since the show has ended, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock has gradually appeared in a number of other MCU projects, including 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, 2022’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and 2024’s Echo.

The recently released Marvel video shows Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin at one another’s throats once again. Additionally, the series will see Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Ayelet Zurer, and Wilson Bethel reprise their respective roles as Karen Page, Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Vanessa Marianna-Fisk, and Benjamin “Dex” Pointdexter/Bullseye.

Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
