“I can’t drive in Nigeria without police escorts” – Singer Tems
R&B artist Temilade Openiyi, widely recognized as Tems, has expressed her belief that she enjoys significant fame in Nigeria.
During a podcast interview with Big Boy TV in the United States, Tems remarked that her celebrity status occasionally hinders her ability to move freely within Nigeria.
She recounted an incident from last December when she nearly faced a mob while driving in Lagos.
As she explained, her popularity necessitates the presence of police escorts whenever she drives in Nigeria.
“I used to drive in Nigeria, but now I can’t drive. I almost got mobbed last December. If I want to drive, I must have police escorts at the front and the back,” she said.
Tems acknowledged that she has faced challenges with her fame, particularly as an introvert, but has since adapted to her circumstances.
