Ballon d’Or 2024: ‘Football politics’ – Camavinga blasts organizers over Vinicius
Real Madrid midfielder, Eduardo Camavinga has hit out at the organizers of the Ballon d’Or after his teammate, Vinicius Junior missed out on the coveted award on Monday night.
Camavinga suggested that the organizers played politics in the results that saw Manchester City’s Rodri take home the Ballon d’Or ahead of Vinicius.
The France international also opined that Vinicius is the best player in the world and that no award can define the Brazilian’s footballing prowess.
It was reported that the decision to give Rodri the award has, however, sparked a lot of controversy on social media.
Many believe Vinicius was more deserving of it.
However, a few hours before the ceremony commenced on Monday, it was widely reported that Vinicius would not win, which made Real Madrid boycott the ceremony.
Reacting after Rodri won the award, Camavinga posted on X alongside a picture of himself with Vinicius:
‘’FOOTBALL POLITICS. My brother you are the best player in the world and no award can say otherwise. Love you my bro.”
