Landman Trailer: Billy Bob Thornton & Demi Moore Star in New Taylor Sheridan Show

The new Landman trailer highlights Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore leading the Taylor Sheridan show, which releases its first two episodes on Sunday, November 17 on Paramount+. From there, episodes will drop weekly on Sunday.

“Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, the series is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs,” according to the official logline. “Based on the notable 11-part podcast Boomtown, the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics.”

What happens in the new Landman trailer?

The trailer introduces the show from Sheridan, who is known for creating Yellowstone, and begins with Thornton’s character pontificating about Texas. He says it attracts people in three stages: there are the dreamers first, exemplified by Michael Peña, as the screen turns to him. Then there are the bankers, Moore and Jon Hamm. Then, finally, the desperate. That’s shown through scenes of violence. Thornton’s character counts himself among the lucky ones.

From there, the Landman trailer shifts to focus on the oil industry at the center of the story. A big explosion is seen. That’s juxtaposed with well-dressed men in suits negotiating in a conference room. Finally, the trailer concludes by hinting at the various conflicts that motivate different characters.

Thornton’s character seems to be unwittingly mentoring a young protagonist, his son, while the characters played by Hamm and Moore have their own schemes. Moore’s character says: “Go make a bet.” As the Landman trailer winds down, viewers are introduced to the complicated marriage that Thornton has. The closing statement lingers: “Men die. Oil companies don’t.”

Along with Thornton, Moore, Hamm, and Peña, the Landman cast includes Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, and Paulina Chávez, with Andy Garcia joining Hamm and Peña in the guest-starring ranks.

Sheridan co-created the series with Christian Wallace. They both executive produce alongside David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman, and Stephen Kay. Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch executive produce for Imperative Entertainment alongside J.K. Nickell and Megan Creydt for Texas Monthly. Peter Feldman, meanwhile, serves as co-executive producer. Landman is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution and produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions.
