Singer Solange Knowles reveals she’s been battling multiple chronic health issues
American singer and songwriter Solange Knowles has disclosed that she was diagnosed with three chronic illnesses in 2018.
The actress, who is the sister of Beyoncé, shared this information on Instagram.
In response to a post by model and musician Shaun Ross, who discussed his experiences with long COVID-19, Solange expressed her support.
She wrote: “Sending u so much love and strength Shaun and to all in the comments struggling with the debilitating, confusing, and lonely symptoms of POTS!”
She further elaborated: “I got diagnosed with POTS, Sjogrens and Mcas in 2018 and really relate to not wanting your health to be your identity.
“The good folks at [Dysautonomia International] were really an incredible resource for me and I feel really grateful for the spoonie community for holding me down during my times of complete uncertainty! Sending an abundance of love your way !”
POTS, or Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, is a chronic condition characterized by an unusually rapid heart rate upon standing or sitting.
Sjögren’s syndrome is a chronic autoimmune disorder that impairs the function of the body’s moisture-producing glands, often leading to dry eyes and mouth.
MCAS, or Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, results in recurrent severe allergic reactions, with symptoms that can impact multiple body systems, including the skin, gastrointestinal tract, heart, respiratory system, and nervous system.
